BASIC INFORMATION

Name: Nathaniel Horn

Canon: Original

Age: Looks in his 20s, is actually in his 70s in Earth years

Bio: Nathaniel Horn is a 20-year old guy who is absolutely normal - he has a loving family and big dreams of getting into college and making a nice life for himself.

Except this isn't exactly true.

The Nathaniel Horn you see now is actually a shapeshifting alien who belongs to a race called the Karnonians. Karnonian society is terribly strict and abides by thousands of rules, and are pretty much xenophobic jerks who think they're the best race in the galaxy. Nathaniel used to be a pilot and escort for other Karnonians traveling to other systems, until he learned about a certain thing called "fun" in addition to "the awesome feeling of breaking rules and getting away with it". He decided to escape his stifling society by taking a spaceship on a joyride across the galaxy, which abruptly ended when he crashlanded on a nice little planet by the name of Earth.

Nathaniel lived on Earth for several years, learning the culture, language, and customs as best as he could, but felt dreadfully lonely since he couldn't find a way to truly fit in. Enter the actual Nathaniel Horn, who was a young drug dealer way in over his head who chose the worst spot in town to make a deal, since it was a spot where a certain shapeshifting alien happened to live. Nathaniel accidentally ran into the alien in all his monstrous fleshy glory, decided to fight the thing, and then accidentally got stabbed and killed in the resulting scuffle.

So, what's an alien to do with a dead guy? Well, take his appearance and name for himself to see what being human is all about, of course. And so, he inserted himself into the previous Nathaniel's life, with his new family none the wiser that he was nothing but an alien cuckoo.

And Nathaniel is going to happily to keep it that way as long as he can.
SYMBIOTE INFORMATION

[RHO] - [PERSUASION]
Nathaniel will be able to force others to think or do things simply through the power of telling them to do it. The major limitation with this power is that Nathaniel has to be heard in order for the effect of his voice to take effect. If the person has earplugs or can't understand what he's saying, then the ability doesn't take effect.

Simple commands will be followed without question (ex: "Pick up that ball", "Turn to the right", "Close your eyes", etc.) The simpler and easier to do, the better. More complex commands will not be followed (ex: "Go and bake a cake", "Punch your friend in the face", etc.) To somewhat get around this limitation, Nathaniel can use a collection of simple commands instead of one giant complex command to make his ability work better (ex: instead of "free the prisoners" he can say "take this key, go to this door, unlock the door"). However, this will not always work, especially if the person gets wise to what they're being made to do.

People with stronger wills will be much harder to use the power on. There is a time limit to commands - for example, if Nathaniel tells a person to stay in one place, it can take around 15 minutes for it to wear off. There is a chance people will remember that they have been manipulated after breaking free of the command. There is also a chance that some people will be aware that they are being commanded while they are in the command (which can add to them resisting Nathaniel's power).

BROOD PERMISSIONS
Nathaniel is a fun-loving guy, yes. That's no lie. He will make jokes and quips and sarcastically remark at things at a moment's notice. However, the reason why he does this will be apparent to brood members - he's honestly lonely. He grew up in a society where everyone had their roles and relied on each other to fulfill those roles, and while he's glad to be free of it, he can't help but feel cut off from everyone else. Having free will is a blessing, but it is a tough road for someone who has never had it before.

He's also incredibly selfish, though this is something he is slowly working on fixing. He will always tend to think of himself before others, and this isn't exactly an issue of pride: it's an issue born of insecurity. He wants attention and fun and nice things because it makes him feel good. He craves feeling good. At the same time, he is learning about empathy and caring and is slowly incorporating it into his character, but it may take a while before he erases so many years of having a self-centered attitude. It runs underneath his jovial nature as a rather dark undercurrent - while he won't betray anyone or stab anyone in the back, he may dip his toes in more amoral waters if given the chance to. He has a spark of rebellion that always sparks inside him, a spark he does not want to go out. He may follow orders, but if he has the chance to go off the beaten path, he'll take it.

He will attempt to hide the fact that his name and face do not belong to him, but broodmates will see that while he does not feel guilty about what he had done, he feels that it is something that has tainted the life he has now. He stole a life from someone else without their consent, and he doesn't want his new family and friends to find out, lest they'll take away the only chance he ever had to belong in a society outside of his own. He's terrified to go back to his old race and become an automaton doing the same job over and over again.

Overall, broodmates will be able to see that Nathaniel is a rather unfinished soul - he's still really trying to build up his own identity as much as he can. He was once like a mindless ant, and now he's his own person, and he's doing all he can to flesh himself out. He's curious and eager to get to know others for this reason, and won't hesitate to reach out to others if he feels it will help him understand himself.

NEST PERMISSIONS
Nest members will still see that the friendliness and jokes are a way for Nathaniel to get attention and self esteem, but Nathaniel will do his best to shut out how deep the selfishness truly lies. The nature of how he got his name and face will also be mostly unreachable, though he'll not shut away memories of his previous life in Karnonian society, where its members were monitored constantly and bonds between members simply didn't exist. The guy never had a family or friends before he "became" human.

He's very open about being an alien, and is very proud of his own abilities. He is also not at all disgusted by his true form, though he understands others may not be so welcoming of the thought of seeing it. Overall, he comes off as a curious, if somewhat immature soul who may has a streak of rebellion in him - he doesn't seem like the type of guy who will always follow orders if he can help it.

MENTAL LINK

Nathaniel comes off, overall, as bright. He's eager, and excited, and happy, and willing to take on the world and see what it has to offer. His mind is filled with colors, some even alien to human eyes, and nowhere does he allow black and white to take over. However, there is a feeling of bitterness, the touch of regret, and a sensation of fear that sometimes passes over, like a cloud - it always happens when he remembers his previous life where he felt strangled by constant meaningless rules. Overall, his thoughts change as quickly as his physical form can - he's a shapeshifter to his core, and will easily mimic other's feelings and behaviors if he chooses to do so.

PERMISSIONS
Physical Affection: Go ahead! He loves it.
Physical Violence: He's no fighter, and will not fight if he doesn't have to. He's more willing to defend himself or, if push comes to shove, use his shapeshifting ability to either fight dirty or shock the opponent enough so he can get away.
Romance/Relationships: He's very open to it! He will not push it on someone else if they're not comfortable/not interested, though.
Thread-jacking: Ask me ahead of time, but most of the time I'll be a-okay with it.
Back-tagging: I WILL BACKTAG TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH
Fourth-walling: No, please!
Offensive Subjects/Triggers: I have none!
Anything Else? Nothing I can think of now!
